Privacy Policy
Daybreak is built with privacy in mind. No ads, no tracking, no selling your data. Here's exactly what we collect and why.
What we collect
As a guest (not signed in) — your reading progress, streaks, check-in history, and highlights are stored only on your device in browser local storage. Nothing is sent to any server.
If you sign in with Google (Pro) — we store the following in Firebase Firestore, linked to your Google account:
- Your reading progress — which books and chapters you have read
- Your check-in history and streak counts
- Your highlights — the verses you have saved
- Your app settings — translation preference, font size, theme
From Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL. We use this only to identify your account and display your name inside the app. We do not share it with third parties or use it for marketing.
Error monitoring — we use Sentry to detect technical errors. When an error occurs, Sentry receives the error type, a technical stack trace, your browser type and version, operating system, and the URL where the error occurred. Sentry does not receive your name, email, or reading history. Error data is retained for 90 days and is used solely to fix bugs.
What we don't collect
- No advertising trackers
- No location data
- No access to contacts, camera, or microphone
- No behavioural profiles
- No tracking cookies
- No selling or sharing of data with advertisers

If you sign in with Google, your data is stored in Firebase Firestore operated by Google LLC. Data may be processed in the United States. By signing in, you consent to this transfer.
How to delete your data
Go to Settings → App Settings → Reset All Data. This wipes everything locally and, if you're signed in, removes your Firestore record too.
You can also email us to request manual deletion of your cloud record.

Children
Daybreak is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to how we handle your data, we will update the date at the top of this document. Continued use of Daybreak after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
