About Daybreak

What is Daybreak?
Daybreak is a Bible reading app built around one simple habit: one chapter a day. You open the app, read your chapter, tap Check In, and come back tomorrow. Streaks, badges, and a yearly heatmap track your progress over time.
Which Bible translations are available?
KJV (King James Version) is available on the free tier. ASV (American Standard Version) and WEB (World English Bible) are included with Pro. You can switch translation any time in Settings.
Do I need an account?
No. Daybreak works without any account — your progress is saved on your device. Signing in is free and adds cloud sync so your data is backed up and accessible on multiple devices. A Pro subscription unlocks additional features.
Is there a mobile app?
Daybreak is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You install it from your browser — no App Store needed. On iPhone: open in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android: open in Chrome → Install App. It works offline and feels like a native app.

Account & sign-in

How do I sign in?
Open the menu (top right) and tap Sign In. On iPhone and Android you'll see Google Sign-In. On desktop you can also sign in with a magic link sent to your email — no password needed.
Why is email sign-in not available on my phone?
Magic links open in your phone's browser (Safari or Chrome), which is a separate context from the installed app. The sign-in wouldn't carry over. To keep things simple and reliable, the installed app on iPhone and Android uses Google Sign-In only. If you don't have a Google account, you can sign in with a magic link using the browser version of Daybreak at daybreak.ehzie.com.
I signed in — how do I know it worked?
The menu will show your name and plan (Free Plan or Pro Plan) instead of the Sign In button. A "Signed in" toast appears briefly when sign-in completes.
Can I use Daybreak on multiple devices?
Yes. Sign in on each device with the same Google account and your progress, streaks, and highlights sync automatically.

Progress & streaks

How does the streak work?
Your streak counts the number of consecutive days you've checked in. Miss a day and it resets to zero. The app tracks your current streak and your all-time best streak separately.
What happens to my streak at the end of the year?
Nothing — your streak continues uninterrupted across December 31 into January 1. A 1000-day streak stays a 1000-day streak. The yearly heatmap simply shows a fresh grid for the new year. If you want to start over, that's always your choice via Reset All Data in Settings.
Can I undo a check-in?
Yes. Tap Check In again the same day to undo it. This un-marks the day, steps the chapter back, and recalculates your streak and badges.
What does the yearly heatmap show?
A grid of every day in the current calendar year. Gold squares are days you checked in — hover or tap any square to see which book and chapter you read that day. You can download it as an image to share.

Highlights

How do I save a verse?
Tap any verse while reading to highlight it. Consecutive verses are grouped automatically (e.g. Romans 8:28–30). Your highlights are saved to the Highlights section, accessible from the bottom bar.
How do I share a highlight?
Open Highlights, swipe right on any item (or tap the share icon) to share it as text or as a verse card image.
How do I delete a highlight?
Swipe left on a highlight to delete it, or tap and confirm. Deleted highlights cannot be recovered.

Badges

How do badges work?
Badges are earned automatically — you don't need to claim them. Every time you check in, the app checks whether you've hit a new milestone. If you have, a notification card slides up and the badge appears in your collection.
What badge types are there?
Three types: Streak badges for consecutive-day milestones (3, 7, 14, 30 days … up to 1000 and 2000), Reading badges for books completed (1, 5, 10, 25, 50, all 66), and Annual badges for reading every single day of a calendar year.
What is an annual badge?
An annual badge is earned by checking in every day of a specific calendar year — all 365 (or 366) days. There is one badge per year. They're the hardest badges to earn and can't be retroactively awarded for past years you didn't complete.

Free & Pro

What does the free tier include?
Everything core to the reading habit: one chapter at a time, daily check-ins, streaks, the monthly bar chart, KJV translation, and your first streak badge. No account required, no time limit. Sign in free to add cloud sync across devices.
What does Pro include?
Pro ($14.99/year) unlocks: audio reading, verse highlights, all badges and the yearly heatmap, and ASV and WEB translations. Cloud sync is free for any signed-in user — you don't need Pro for that.
How do I cancel?
Cancel any time through the LemonSqueezy customer portal (linked in your subscription email) or from Settings → Account. You keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.
Are refunds available?
Yes — full refund within 14 days of your first payment, no questions asked. See our Refund Policy for details.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored?
On the free tier, everything is stored on your device in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to any server. On Pro (signed in), your data is also backed up to Firebase Firestore under your Google account.
How do I back up my data?
Go to Settings → Support → Download Backup. This saves a JSON file of all your progress, highlights, and settings to your device. You can restore from it any time.
How do I delete all my data?
Settings → App Settings → Reset All Data. This wipes everything locally and, if you're signed in, removes your Firestore record too.
Does Daybreak use ads or track me?
No. No advertising trackers, no behavioural profiling, no cookies for tracking. We use Sentry for error monitoring (bug reports only) and Firebase for auth and sync. That's it.

Updates & install

How do I update Daybreak?
Updates download in the background automatically. To apply one, fully close the app and reopen it. On iPhone: swipe up from the bottom, swipe Daybreak away, then reopen. On Android: recent apps → swipe Daybreak away → reopen.
How do I install it on my phone?
On iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button → "Add to Home Screen". On Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu → "Install app" or look for the install prompt. Once installed it lives on your home screen like any app and works offline.
